Hydraulic Hose Crimper Dies & Accessories
The right hydraulic hose crimper dies make the crimp. 150+ sizes, 9 series, HRC50+ hardness — universal within series, zero cone error guaranteed.
What Are Hydraulic Hose Crimper Dies?
Hydraulic hose crimper dies (also called tooling, jaws, or segments) are the removable metal segments that directly contact and compress the ferrule during crimping. Each die size corresponds to a specific hose/fitting combination.
Why Die Quality Matters
- Gas-tight connection: A well-executed crimp deforms metal past its yield point, creating a connection that prevents oxygen and moisture from reaching the metals — preventing corrosion.
- Cold welding: The compressed wire creates tension in the surrounding connector, producing high static friction. Crimped connections resist vibration and thermal shock better than soldered joints.
- Die hardness: Quality dies are hardened to HRC50+ (Rockwell C scale). Die seats (the cone surface that holds the dies) should be HRC60+. Lower hardness = faster wear = crimp diameter drift.

How Dies Work
Select die matching hose/fitting specification → Insert die segments into die seat (cone) → Die segments close radially when piston advances → Each segment presses uniformly on the ferrule → Ferrule compresses to target diameter.
Die Series Compatibility Table
| Die Series | Fits Machines | Hose Range | Die Count |
|---|---|---|---|
| P16 | P16HP/HPZ/AP | up to 1″ 2SP | 10 sizes |
| P18 | P18HP/HPZ/AP, P18CS/XL | up to 1″ 4SP | 12 sizes |
| P20 | P20HP/HPZ/AP, P20/20S/20D, P20CS/CSZ/CSD | up to 1½” 4SP | 14 sizes |
| P32 | P32/32A/32D/32E/32S/33, P32CS/CSZ/CSD, TRC120L | up to 2″ 4SP | 19 sizes |
| US18 | US18 | up to 1¼” 6SP | 13 sizes |
| US20 | US20 | up to 1¼” 6SP | 14 sizes |
| P160 | P160/160C | up to 4″ 6SP | 20 sizes |
| P175 | P175 | up to 6″ | 27 sizes |
Key rule: Dies are universal within the same series. P32 dies fit ALL P32-series machines (P32, P32A, P32D, P32E, P32S, P33, P32CS, P32CSZ, P32CSD, TRC120L). Cross-brand compatibility is not guaranteed.
Standard vs Optional vs Custom Dies
Standard Dies
Included with machine purchase (8–14 sizes depending on model). Cover the most common hose sizes — approximately 80% of workshop needs.

Non-standard2–4 week lead timeDie Problems — Solved
“Are dies universal across brands?”
Generally no. Die taper angle, segment count, and seat diameter vary between manufacturers. TRC dies are universal within the same series (P32 dies fit all P32-series machines). Cross-brand use risks cone error and uneven crimps.

“My dies are wearing out — crimp diameter is drifting”
Die wear is normal after thousands of crimps. Check crimp diameter with calipers every 5,000 crimps. When drift exceeds 0.1 mm, replace the die set. HRC50+ hardness dies last longest.

“I ordered the wrong die size”
Die numbers correspond to the hose inner diameter or ferrule outer diameter, depending on the manufacturer’s system. TRC uses the ferrule OD system — always check the crimp chart before ordering.

“Can I use 1/0 dies for 2/0 copper lugs?”
Not recommended. Copper lugs have different wall thickness than hydraulic ferrules. Using wrong dies gives either under- or over-crimping. Use dies specified for the exact connector.

“Die stuck in the machine”
Lubricate the cone surface before each use with hydraulic oil. Dry dies can stick from metal-to-metal friction. Never force a stuck die — use penetrating oil and gentle tapping.

OEM (TRC) Dies vs Aftermarket Dies
| Factor | OEM (TRC) Dies | Aftermarket Dies |
|---|---|---|
| Fit Guarantee | ✅ Exact match | ⚠️ May have tolerance issues |
| Hardness | HRC50+ guaranteed | Varies widely |
| Cone Error | <0.05 mm | May exceed 0.1 mm |
| Warranty | ✅ Included | ❌ Typically none |
| Cost | Standard price | 30–50% cheaper |
| Risk | Low | Medium (quality varies) |
Our recommendation: OEM dies for critical applications (high-pressure, safety-critical). Aftermarket dies may be acceptable for low-pressure, non-critical work — but verify hardness and cone error before use.
Who Needs Hydraulic Hose Crimper Dies

🔧 Hose Repair Shops
Keep common sizes (6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 31) in stock. A full set of hydraulic hose crimper dies covers 90% of daily repair work.

🏭 Production
Custom hydraulic hose crimper dies for proprietary hose/fitting combinations. CNC machines store profiles for each die size.

📦 Distributors
Full die sets as value-added inventory. Die compatibility is a top question from international buyers.

⛏️ Mining & Heavy Equipment
Large-diameter dies (31, 38, 44, 50) for R12/R13 hose. Mining workshops need dies that match their fleet’s fitting specs.

🛢️ Oil & Gas

How to Choose Hydraulic Hose Crimper Dies
What machine do you have? → Determines die series (P16, P18, P20, P32, US18, US20, P160, P175)
What hose sizes do you crimp? → Standard set (included with machine) covers 80% of needs
Special applications? → Custom dies available (2–4 week lead time)
Budget? Standard set included with machine. Optional dies (*) are extra. Custom dies quoted per specification.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are TRC dies compatible with other brand machines?
Only within the same series. P32 dies fit P32-series TRC machines. Cross-brand compatibility is not guaranteed due to different taper angles and seat diameters.
How often should I replace dies?
Every 10,000–50,000 crimps depending on hose type and material. Monitor crimp diameter drift with calipers — replace when drift exceeds 0.1 mm.
What does the * mean on die part numbers?
Star (*) = optional, additional purchase required. Dies without * are included with the machine purchase.
Can I sharpen or recondition worn dies?
Not recommended. Re-machining changes the die profile and affects crimp quality. Replace with new OEM dies for consistent results.
What’s the hardness of TRC dies?
Die seats: HRC60+. Dies: HRC50+. This ensures long life and consistent crimp quality across thousands of cycles.
